Good, after all, Halloween is an anglican, or rather anglo, tradition that only rose to a global status starting some 50 years ago due to foreign influence. It really doesn't have any ground in our lands or even mainland Europe for that matter.
However I must point out that Užgavėnės isn't really a counterpart to Halloween. Aside from the blynai tradition to a certain extent it doesn't have much correlation to Halloween, neither in its festivities or its meaning.
The more apt counterpart of ours to Halloween would be Vėlinės/Ilgės/Visų Šventųjų diena, whereas Užgavėnės is more related to the tradition of the Carnival (like Carnevale di Venezia), as both festivities are for the time before Lent (Gavėnia / Lielais gavēnis).

I too am not that particularly into horror, I don't find myself reading or watching much of it all.
Though it must be duly noted that since I am a resident balt yurishitter stuck in that niche, all of these picks happen to be yuri, which perhaps is the real horror of it all, so bear in mind that these all come from kuso taste.
I'll start of my reccomendations with the one I'd say has the most horror out of the whole list. Quite well known, seeing as how it got an anime adaptation (haven't seen it myself):
